"Blocos de carnaval" de São Paulo crescem. Quando Walter Taverna e os amigos bateram latas pela primeira vez para divertir as famílias do Bexiga, poucos esperariam o boom atual.

Há exatamente 70 anos o mais antigo bloco paulistano ainda em atividade ousou sair às ruas do Bexiga em uma segunda-feira de carnaval. Em 2012, o número de agremiações chegou a 20. Hoje, incluindo o período "pré-momesco", são 391, um recorde, 28% a mais que no ano passado. E o avanço de mais de 5 mil pessoas por "desfile" fez a Prefeitura estabelecer restrições e criar até megashows para a dispersão. Na prática, os blocos viraram "abre-alas" e com expectativa de público: 3 milhões.
O carnaval paulistano - que já foi dos cordões, das associações e, até mesmo, das escolas de samba - hoje toma as ruas com opções em ao menos cinco categorias: família, clássicos, estreantes, LGBT e os que vão além do samba.
Aliás, na cidade que Vinícius de Moraes chamou de túmulo do samba - ao defender um músico do ritmo que não conseguia obter silêncio em uma boate -, o ritmo virou só "parte" da exibição para muitos. Neste ano, até o sertanejo vai pedir passagem. Entre os blocos novatos, está o Pinga Ni Mim, que vai desfilar na Vila Nova Conceição, bairro nobre na zona sul. "O sertanejo é conhecido por ter letras machistas, principalmente porque os cantores eram só homens. Então o movimento do sertanejo das mulheres nos motivou bastante a criar o bloco", diz Gabriel Ribeiro.
Ele afirma que, no repertório, não vão faltar canções das duplas Simone e Simaria e Maiara e Maraísa, recentes sucessos no gênero. "Vai ter bastante sertanejo das patroas", conta, adiantando a terça de carnaval
O Bloquinho e Buchecha é outro nessa linha. A começar pelo clássico Só Love, o grupo promete levar batidas de funk nas ruas do Itaim Bibi. Já no sábado que vem, também haverá rap pela primeira vez na festa de Momo, com Bealoko no Anhangabaú.
Outro grupo que foge do samba é o Ritaleena, em homenagem a Rita Lee, que desfilou pela primeira vez em 2015. "Íamos muito para o carnaval do Rio e pensamos: ‘bem que São Paulo poderia ter algum bloco que identificasse a cidade e nosso grupo de amigas’. Queríamos um carnaval feminino e paulistano", diz a musicista Alessa Camarinha, criadora do Ritaleena, que desfila duas vezes - hoje, em Pinheiros, e domingo de carnaval na Vila Mariana.
E haverá ainda espaço só para grupos com eletrônico, pagode, rock. E para essa mistura toda, como propõe Jefferson Rocha. Em 2014, ele foi um dos criadores do bloco Vou de Táxi, que desfila em Pinheiros no dia 5. No repertório, predominam músicas da década de 1990 - com axé, rock, pop, pagode, boy bands. "Nós sentíamos falta de blocos mais variados. Antes, não havia muita oportunidade ou a possibilidade de ter um bloco diferente de samba e samba-enredo. Tinha uma demanda reprimida", conta Rocha.
De acordo com ele, no primeiro ano, o bloco reuniu 2,5 mil e já subiu para 20 mil em 2015. Neste ano, espera o dobro.
A grandiosidade dos eventos carnavalescos de rua já faz os blocos rivalizarem com a Virada Cultural e concentrarem as atenções da Prefeitura. A preocupação com a dispersão, sobretudo no centro e na Vila Mariana, fez a administração apostar em megashows e grandes palcos na região central - fórmula inédita para o carnaval.
Segundo a coordenadora de programação da Secretaria Municipal da Cultura, Gabrielle Araújo, as atrações de grande porte - como Elza Soares e Paralamas do Sucesso - podem ser atribuídas ao patrocínio histórico, de R$ 15 milhões - em 2016, foram recebidos R$ 3,5 milhões.
